...Oops...My Mistake...

One of our diligent readers has brought to my attention a slight omission from our May 16, 2007 Footnotes article on Property Tax Relief. The 2008 freeze in the growth of property tax levies applies ONLY TO LAKE COUNTY TAXING UNITS, unless a 1% local income tax is adopted for property tax relief by July 31, 2007. Please accept my apologies. We will begin publishing a series of articles addressing the changes from this year's General Assembly beginning with our next issue. |

| NEWLY RELEASED SCHOOL CONSTRUCTION COST THRESHOLDS |
|
In January 2005, Governor Mitch Daniels issued Executive Order 05-19, directing the Department of Local Government Finance (DLGF) to develop guidance for financing school projects. As part of this guidance, the DLGF issues school construction cost thresholds to ensure projects are cost efficient. Recently, the previously issued cost thresholds were updated to reflect more current construction conditions.
